Hi, I'm not sure if this is the right place for this, if it's not sorry for the inconvenience.
Some of the download mirrors return an invalid Content-Type when we request a download from them; this is harmless for most browsers, but for Internet Explorer users (and maybe Edge one's too) it cause the downloaded file to end with a '.man' extension instead of '.msi'. They can't open it automatically and have to either rename it or redownload it and hope to find a mirror that works for them. The invalid Content-Type is "application/x-troff-man". Other types returned that seems to work fine are "application/octet-stream", "application/x-msdownload", "application/x-msi" and weirdly enough "text/plain" (although I only used HEAD so I don't know if the resulting download would be valid). This is not a wide issue: out of thje 79 mirrors I tested, only 7 returned the invallid content-type: X http://mirror.in2p3.fr/ftp/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Win_x86.msi X http://mirror.ibcp.fr/pub/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Win_x86.msi X http://speglar.simnet.is/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Win_x86.msi X http://mirror.library.ucy.ac.cy/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Win_x86.msi X http://mirror.nbtelecom.com.br/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Win_x86.msi X http://ftp.wayne.edu/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Win_x86.msi X http://mirror.rise.ph/tdf/libreoffice/stable/5.2.4/win/x86/LibreOffice_5.2.4_Win_x86.msi however, for downloads near France, the list of 6 closest mirror have 2 of these returning the incorrect content-type, causing a lot of unnecessary noise on the user mailing list. It would be nice if this issue could be fixed. -- View this message in context: http://nabble.documentfoundation.org/Invalid-mimetype-with-download-mirrors-tp4204881.html Sent from the Website mailing list archive at Nabble.com. -- To unsubscribe e-mail to: [email protected] Problems? http://www.libreoffice.org/get-help/mailing-lists/how-to-unsubscribe/ Posting guidelines + more: http://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Netiquette List archive: http://listarchives.libreoffice.org/global/website/ All messages sent to this list will be publicly archived and cannot be deleted
