The reason that work hit a wall wasn't technical. Thing is, the opensolaris source tree is only one, so it has only one copy of this default htdoc/index.html. But many differently named/branded distros are built of the same source tree. The various samples that were floated all had some distro-specific naming in them. IMO we should just go ahead and create a default index page with all the technical content, devoid of any distro naming (i.e. no 'Solaris', no Nevada, no Indiana, no SXDE, etc), only the technical content that matters.
