I don't see an absolute necessity for a seed attribute in your case: you
can just use "#{count} + 2" to skip the first option and set count="4"
to your loop (in fact if you compute its value with an other xpath, then
substract 1 to the count result in the xpath).
Nevertheless you're right, <storeXPath /> should allow to store an empty
string. I've just fixed it in the source code and it should be available
in next build.

Or another alternative would be to allow an empty string value as a return
from an xpath.

I had this happen and putting "(", ")" around the list made it work.
in XPE, both exprs worked.
