thanks, I spent hours trying to fix something that couldn't work, but
learnt some more side-technology along the way ... some "silver lining".
Incidentally I was using the R_1217 build deliberately, as I try to be a
little conservative and use the most recent VN.M build of any library
rather than snapshots, so I was caught out there. Yes the website says
that the snapshot is safe for beginners ... I must have missed that.
