Might have sent my reply email a touch too fast. Just
did a google for webtest and SOAP, and found this link:

Is this the way you use webtest to test web services? Very interesting.
I'm just about to do a change to the web service here, so I might just
try this approach, to see what benefits I can get from this over my old
approach of junit/java.

Hi Tokutan,
Wow, you have used webtest to test web services? May I
ask you describe how you did that? I ask, as it may help me ease the way
I test my web services. My approach is quite programmatic, using junit
and java. Webtest is generally script-like, using ant and the like...so
may be easier/faster to develop tests, but I could pass that testing
over to the test team, as it's an easier skill set for them to learn
than junit/java.
So, please do explain Tokutan, am sure I'm not the only
one who would appreciate this knowledge?

Hi Tukutan,
My gut feel is that webtest is good for testing
typical
point and click web applications (e.g. facebook, google). For
testing
web services, I would recommend creating soap messages and
sending them
and asserting the replies in an 'integration' test.
Someone else may have some input on if/how you
would use
webtest for web service testing.
