Hi Rinkesh,

- Please get latest WebTest version, and try to provide a minimal test case if
you have an issue. The smaller the case, the sooner it is expected to be fixed.
- No, WebTest uses HtmlUnit, and can't use real browsers (at least now).

Yours,
Ahmed----

Subject: RE: [Webtest] Is it possible to do browser compatibility testing using
Canoo Webtest

Hi Ahmed,

Thanks for replying so soon.

I know we can configure the engine of IE and FF.  But the issue is with
javascript engine..  Many blocks in our application are created or rendered
using javascript which works fine in Real time browser but fails with Webtest
(webtest failed to detect the html components like text box, buttons, etc).  As
an alternative we are preparing the URL and fire it.  But by this mechanism we
are unable to verify the page with html controls.

Is it possible to configure webtest so that it opens IE/FF and do the testing
without using htmlunit?

Thanks & Regards,

Dear Rinkesh,

HtmlUnit is the GUI-Less browser used by WebTest, and it follows real browsers
(IE/FF) behavior as much as possible.

If you already are using WebTest, then you can configure it to simulate both IE
and FF, but if you want 100% accuracy, nothing will help except using real
browsers (or projects driving them), but that's again has its drawbacks.

Yours,
Ahmed

Hi,

Our organization is having a website.  We have automated using canoo webtest.
Now we want to do the browser compatibility testing.  Is it possible to do it
using canoo webtest.  As far as I know, webtest is having its own browser
called htmlunit.  Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks & Regards,
