Mark/John, I was having the same issue due to jQuery and tried the latest snapshot, but was receiving the following:
java.lang.ClassCastException: org.apache.commons.httpclient.Cookie cannot be cast to com.gargoylesoftware.htmlunit.util.Cookie Rather than try to figure that out I rolled back to the latest stable release and downloaded HTMLUnit 2.5 from here: http://sourceforge.net/projects/htmlunit/files/ Once you have downloaded that extract the htmlunit-2.5.jar and htmlunit-core-js-2.5.jar and remove the htmlunit-2.4.jar and htmlunit-core-js-2.4.jar from the canoo /lib folder. You should be good to go after you do that. One other thing I did was change the default browser to FF3 from IE6. IE6 is DOM level 1 compliant, so it shouldn't have a problem with createComment if you want to keep that setting.
