How do you know the cart is empty? Could this be a timing problem?

Subject: [Webtest] Webtest and Ajax shopping cart

Hi,
I have a problem with Webtest. I'm testing a webpage that has a shopping
cart and it uses Ajax. For some reason shopping cart does not update. The
teststep looks like <clickLink href="/shoppingCart/add/productID"/>. The
page itself is not supposed to go anywhere from that link but just add item
to cart. The test does not give any errors but the shopping cart is empty
after this. I'm not sure if the request is in right form but I don't know
any other way. Can you help me?
