thank you everyone for great words of encouragement!!

Actually yesterday when my Vet left me the message about bringing her in for
the IV, it was a pretty scary moment!! I mean, anytime they talk about an IV,
you know it must be bad!

So when I got to work yesterday, I was looking at some stuff on the internet
and there is a lot of info about people who have cats with this disease who
have lived years past the initial diagnosis.

Ultimately I found a couple of support groups at Yahoo for people who have
experience with this. And through talking to them today, they have begun to
give me hope!

So now I'm thinking........I'll go ahead and have them continue the treatment.
The Vet has already worked out a payment schedule with me anyway. And it's
only money, right? You can always make more money but there won't ever be
another Mystery!!

Thank you for everything!

Oh Ruth---I am soooooooooooooooooo sorry to hear this. I DO know exactly what
you are feeling. I went through kind of the same thing, different problem, with
my beloved Mutzman. My heart goes out to you darlin'. And to Mystery. The only
thing you can do, if it comes to this, is what is best for Mystery so that she
doesn't suffer anymore than need be & then you will have to tell yourself
everyday that you did the right thing for her & hold onto that for all its
worth. I wish I could say something great that would make this better. I wish I
could be there with you to just hold your hand & give you hugs. I will be
praying for you sweetie & for Mystery.

  MUCH LOVE,

  ~Cynthia~

Mystery has been sick lately. A few weeks ago, I noticed she looked like
she was losing weight. I didn't think much of it at the time because Mystery
and Selena are both indoor cats and they never get sick!

So I decided to change their food and see if that made a difference. I
switched them both to Iams. And they both seemed to like that food but Mystery
still was not putting on weight. She is still losing weight. (Now she's so
skinny, you can see the bones in her spine.)

Last week I decided to take her to the Vet and they did a lot of blood work
and urine analysis. The Vet said she thought it might be a thyroid or kidney
problem. She was hoping it was the thyroid since that can be treated, any
kidney damage cannot be reversed.

Yesterday she (my Vet) called and said she wanted me to bring her in today
to have her put on an IV since she is very dehydrated. She also wants to give
her antibiotics. And she also wanted to take some x-rays to make sure she
doesn't have kidney stones or some other problem. At that time she thought it
was either the kidneys or the liver.

After I got home, she called and said they had looked at her x-rays and
that one kidney is about 1/2 the size of the other one. And the good kidney
also has some damage too!! She called because she wanted me to know that it
doesn't look good.

I've spent $300 so far on the blood work/urine and it will cost about
another $600 for the new treatments. She didn't want me to spend the money if
it wouldn't do any good anyway.

I am so upset over this..........and I just don't know what to do.

You guys are all my best friends and I wanted you to know. Thanks for
listening........
