most white communities who use the n-word don't use it in a complimentary way though. Many white people who use the n-word use it to promote the idea of slavery or segregation. So even if you're a child growing up in that environment, I'm sure they would still pick up on those negative meanings.
I remember when I was a young kid, my dad and his brother were somewhat racist. I don't recall them using the n-word but many times they would say negative things about blacks. My mother, on the other hand was the exact opposite. And I was just a little kid at the time (probably less than 10 yrs old) and I would often think..........how can you guys say stuff like that? ----- Original Message ----- From: DUG Nunya-Bidness To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, February 27, 2009 11:27 AM Subject: {Dawgs/Dittos} Re: The Racial Slur Database I'd say no, if a white kid grew up around people calling each other the N-word all the time, then they might-not know that there's a problem with the word. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ From: "[email protected]" <[email protected]> To: [email protected] Sent: Friday, February 27, 2009 7:40:26 AM Subject: {Dawgs/Dittos} Re: The Racial Slur Database If they REALLY don't know; are they being racist?? Here in the north we have not grown up with it....we never had separate facilities for blacks....they were not refused service or allocated to the back of the bus or kept from the schools either.....as a young girl it was hard for me to understand why blacks were treated so badly in other areas....TV showed me what was going on.... --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "WebTV Dawgs/Dittos" group.
