Tyhart is one of the most corrupt in the state. He also is opposing Sebuliuis
nomination as secretary of HHS. They have fought over abortion clinics and some
bad coal plants. He is a dog and needs to be removed.

Tiahrt PMA Group Controversy Gains National Attention

This blog has stayed on top of Congressman Todd Tiahrt's close ties with
FBI-raided lobbying firm PMA Group, trying to make the fact as public as
possible Tiahrt received nearly $27,000 from PMA Group's PAC and
employees before securing for their clients more than $7 million in
earmarks.

Now, according to The Hill, we learn Tiahrt isn't the only Kansas
Republican congressman who is tied up into this scandal- Jerry Moran
also took money from PMA Group!

The difference? Tiahrt took almost $27,000, and Moran only took $1,500-
and has now returned every last potentially tainted cent.

Moran’s campaign has told The Hill that it will donate to
charity the $1,500 it has received from PMA’s political action
committee (PAC) and employees, while Tiahrt’s campaign said it
will only return the money if there is a conviction.

Good for Moran, and isn't it disappointing a massive federal
investigation, in which a lobbying firm has been raided by the FBI under
suspicion of paying off members of Congress in order to win earmarks,
isn't enough to show Tiahrt he's got $27,000 of dirty money? Now, if you
actually send someone to jail...well that's a totally different story!

“We have a strict policy of returning any and all funds given by
a contributor who has been convicted of a crime,† [Tiahrt
campaign manager Robert] Noland said. “We remain committed to
that policy.†
Moran’s campaign was quick to draw the distinction.

“While these donations were given a long time ago, this firm
does not represent the values of Kansans, and Rep. Moran wanted to make
sure that Kansans know that he will not accept â€" nor keep â€"
questionable money such as this,† Moran spokesman Travis Murphy
said.

It is, of course, totally possible Congressman Todd Tiahrt did nothing
wrong. It's entirely possible the $27,000 he got didn't influence his
decision to write $7 million of earmarks for PMA Group's clients. That
is, of course, entirely possible. But it's transactions like that one
that caused the FBI to raid PMA Group and to freeze it's assets. That
fact alone pulls Tiahrt right into the very middle of the controversy.

At this point, Todd Tiahrt has only two choices: Hold onto the
contributions and simply wait until he's implicated in the scandal, or
donate the contributions to charity. Today, though, he's just hanging on
to $27,000 in tainted money, that, at its very most innocent, makes
Wichita's congressman and our would-be United States Senator look
awfully bad.
