I agree with a lot of what you said, Sally..........especially regarding political issues based on religion. Almost all of the conservative issues are based on religion.
And of course, the whole purpose of conservative issues are to keep us divided! As Bill Clinton pointed out in '04. And I suppose it depends on how you question religious beliefs. True, some people won't accept questions.........no matter how you phrase it! But I think it's still a good idea to question things........whether it's religious or otherwise. Maher's film Religulous is a good example of that. Yes, some people would not entertain the idea of someone asking questions but some did. To me, it all depends on if you have an open mind or a closed mind. A closed mind would never accept an alternate opinion but an open mind would at least consider an optional idea. After all, Maher was only asking questions....... ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Sunday, March 08, 2009 9:34 AM Subject: {Dawgs/Dittos} Re: Richard Dawkins: banned in Oklahoma? <snip> And another thing..........speaking of religion, he said the big problem with religion is that there are some things with religion where you cannot speak against the theology. Why not? Ultimately, he suggests that we should all stop being so polite and question more things.........I certainly agree with that!! +++++++++ But if you question actions not fitting beliefs or perported beliefs they get angry and "take their dolly and go home" or they just label you hateful, or they call you derogatory religious names, or the like... And I agree with him about politicians having to either be religious or "pretend" to be religious.....John McCain is never associated with any religion or religious leader unless there was campaign money to be had.....Obama too had to come out with religious stuff and when he did the right vilified his minister of long ago.... Most people go to church on special occasions...weddings, baptisms, easter, christmas and the like....but those that go "religiously" are a giant minority.... There's a problem too because any polls taken are skewed...because there is an "acceptable" answer.....and everyone knows what it is so they say it..... If we could really get religion out of our government we'd save money, and we would not be so divided....abortion is a religious thing, anti gay marriage...a religious thing; Death with Dignity...a religious thing; ...etc etc......JMO --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "WebTV Dawgs/Dittos" group.
