actually the economist I talked about was on several weeks ago. And he actually meant that many people should have seen it coming and it should not have been the surprise it turned out to be.
And last year's October surprise really began in September because that's when the economy began to get much worse! And really, the way McCain handled that situation, had a great effect on his campaign!! If you recall, after the republican convention, he and Palin had a little better approval than Obama/Biden. And then the economy began to dominate the news. The way McCain handled this (or didn't handle it).......remember he wanted to suspend his campaign and postpone the first debate? But then Obama said he imagined that a President would have to deal with more than one issue at a time and so should a Presidential candidate.
