It's like when I left a managment possition with Chuck E Cheese to go back to
work @ the taxi company, the money is nearly the same, I'm not stressed at work
like I was nearly everyday, and I have weekends off!  The only real minus was
the lack of medical benifits, but within the next month or two that will no
longer be an issue!

Good luck Ruth!

this is not a big deal, just something I thought you guys might like to
know.......

I'm no longer working at Avis anymore, now I work for DirecTV!

Last year when Avis began to lay off some people, I decided to stay.  Mainly
because it was my 10th year there and I didn't want to give up the 4 weeks
vacation that I earned from being there so long.

So after they finished laying people off, a lot of re-structuring of the
company occured.  And many of the changes I didn't like.  Even with 4 weeks of
vacation, I still was not happy staying there!  Every day when I had to go to
work, it seemed like such a chore!  And I began to think that...........it
doesn't matter how much vacation they give me if I can't stand to work when I'm
scheduled to work!

Eventually something happened that just pushed me over the edge..........so I
quit!

I went on a few interviews and ultimately decided to work for DirecTV!  When
they made me a job offer, they gave me less money (about $2.00 less per hour)
and I already figured I would not get 4 weeks of vacation so that was not a
suprise.

I've now been working there for about 2 weeks now and I think it's going to
work out very well!

Yes, I'm making less per hour but I also make a better differential benefit
(better than Avis paid) since I work nights!  Plus, once I actually start
working (I'm still in training right now), they have a good incentive plan for
making even more money!

Tonight I got my first paycheck and I'm now making the same (if not a little
more) than when I was at Avis.  Plus, my first year there, I get 3 weeks of
vacation!!  Also DirecTV has a pension plan as well as a 401k!  Avis did not
have a pension plan.

I feel very good about this move and I think it is going to work out very
well.  I still have one more week of training and after that I will be a level
1 Tech support agent.

Cyn, if you're still having a problem with your DirecTV and I'll see if I can
find a solution for you..........

Oh yeah, and after I've been there for 3 months, I get free DirecTV!!!

It's a much stronger company than Avis!  Right now, Avis stock is selling at
about between 50¢ - 70¢ per share.........DirecTV's stock is selling for about
$20.00 per share!!
