well, Howard Dean pushed back on 'the ends justifies the means' a long time 
ago so maybe they figure it's already been addressed.

But more than that, I don't think anyone buys the argument that torture made 
us any safer than we would have been without it.
On Real Time last night, Bob Baer (who used to be a CIA agent) said torture 
does NOT produce good intel........simply because the subject will tell you 
anything to stop the torture!

And btw, the only reason why the right is saying that torture protected us 
is because that's the only argument they have that people might believe.
