Please read Part one first..... My daughters were raised in the Episcopal Church. They were acolytes and active in church camps. Now as adults they do not practice religion and one thinks she is a witch. The other two are not raising my grandchildren in any organized religion. It is not my place to force my beliefs and faith on them. I told them with they were 18 that choice was up to them. Some so called Christian religions would call this a mistake. That's their opinion. I myself left any organized religion at the same time but came back with a man of faith drew me closer to the church. At the present I do not attend but would like to. My faith has not diminished in my opinion.
Madelyn Murray O'Hare was a Texan. She was a noted atheistic and the founder of her own cult. She rests with Jimmy Hoffa. But she was a strong with her religion as was the heart of the Bible Belt with theirs. A church in Topeka Ks believes that our solider dead should be picketed at graveyards. That is just dead wrong and should be classified as a crime. Problem is that this is a free country and people are told they can do this. Also church bombers, KKK members are protected as long as they stay within our laws. Moslems, Jews are spat upon because of terrorists who cause harm and people of faulty belief. There are extremes in every sort of things on this earth. Creationists and Scientists have debated Christian Church beliefs for centuries. Learning suffers. Knowledge suffers. Recently a member of our Congress stated by the Earth will not end for Man by anything he does or does not do. This is folly. Global warming and climate change is real not a figment of Al Gore's imagination. Ignorance is not bliss; it is fool hardy. We all can learn from our elders and also from our kids. One should never stop learning less one is truly dead Policies based on political and religious folly is counter productive in science. One can only look at the stem cell debate to see that. Those of no faith tend to be static in their beliefs about religion, faith and science. One wants our grandkids to have it better than we did. I want mine to have a joyful life and to be productive. That's a value. That's faith that they will. I want them to have choice in their choices of life and to be free to make them. I want them to have the advantages of good science and sound politics. Obama is not repeat not the Messiah. Nor is he the Devil either. He is only a man; a man of faith and a positive thinker. He is an intelligent man who wants to do good. Where others have been swayed by hate, fear and religious intolerance in their professions, Obama is not I trust. A Breathe of fresh air. If he succeeds it will not be because of lack of intelligence and will. It might be because of those who cannot join the new century and live in the past. I acknowledge the fact that all Religions have the right to exist. Whether I believe in them or not. All men and women of faith though and even those of lack of faith also have their right to exist even though I don't agree with them. Science and faith can co exist. Science, Religion and politics cannot in my opinion. Faith and Politics can co exist.
