*SCOTTISH MINISTER DEFENDS LOCKERBIE BOMBER RELEASE:* The government official who allowed the Lockerbie bomber to go back to Libya defended his decision before an emergency session of Scotland's parliament called Monday amid growing international outrage over the move. Scottish Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill last week ordered the release of Abdelbeset Ali Mohmed al Megrahi on "compassionate" grounds, saying that he was dying of prostate cancer and had just three months to live. "Those were my decisions and my decisions alone," MacAskill told parliament. "I strictly followed due process."
*BERNIE 'DYING' IN JAIL; '20 PILLS FOR CANCER':* Bernie Madoff had little to lose by confessing to masterminding the world's biggest Ponzi scheme -- he's dying of cancer, sources say Madoff, who is serving 150 years at a North Carolina federal lockup after pleading guilty to swindling more than $65 billion, has been telling fellow inmates he does not have much longer to live. "He's been taking about 20 pills a day for his cancer," said one inmate. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "WebTV Dawgs/Dittos" group.
