Rebuttal to this...(in the interest of fairness)
The top 1% income earners get 22% of national income, and pay 40% of
income taxes. The top 25% pay 86%, the bottom 50% earn 13% and pay 3%.
Earned income tax credits, and other social programs like Medicaid, CHIPS,
and food stamps help the poor. What do you think the top 1% should pay? You
seem oblivious to the effect tax increases have on the economy. Right now
the Obama administration is in flux about how much taxes will go up. the
result is uncertainty among investors. The class warfare rhetoric of Obama
like FDR's in the 30s is impeding investment. If you have no idea if capital
gains, corporate, and income taxes are going up, you keep your money on the
side lines. If new taxes for health care come in that just makes it worse.
The effect is not rich people buying used Rolls Royce's, but mass
unemployment.
Some states like Indiana are running surpluses, how is that? California
is in such trouble because it is one of the worst run states. This idea you
seem to have that public spending must be massively increased regardless of
the negative effect on the dollar and the over all economy is crazy. You and
Obama are proposing a national suicide pact. Free market conservatives have
suggested a health care reform, that would cost almost no public money and
would fix 95% of the problem.
Tort reform lowered malpractice costs 30% in Texas, and 40% in
California. A new study said it would save $54 Billion over 10 years nation
wide. Lets do it, screw the trial lawyers. Let insurance companies sell
across state lines. Let individuals buy Taylor made policies, not boiler
plate all encumbering plans that cover every thing. A 60 year old woman
shouldn't have to buy contraception coverage, or the option to get a boob
job. Most people want catastrophic coverage for things like cancer, not sex
change operations. You can get hundreds of thousands of dollars of car,
home, and life insurance, at relatively cheap rates, if private insurance
works in those areas why not health insurance? Right now the market is a
series of state controlled monopolies, that cost the people and employers
a fortune, gives the US economy a competitive disadvantage.
Obama care will make all these things worse, socialism is not the
answer, free markets are. If this abomination is passed I hope the courts
strike it down, and save us. The plan is unconstitutional because it
requires people to buy some thing as a condition of living. Mandatory car
insurance is a condition of getting a privilege, a registration. If the
government can force you to buy health insurance for the common good, they
can make you do any thing else for the same reason. You as a Fat Advocate
should see national health care will lead to mandatory weight loss programs,
and fines for fat people. They do that in Japan, and some companies in
America already do it. Obama has talked about people not being able to eat
whatever they want in the future.
Why would you want to destroy the dollar, cause hyperinflation, put the
country in a depression; so we can have socialism rather then freedom?
What's the up side of any of this? So we can all go down together? Why would
you support a national suicide pact? Because a democrat is proposing it?
What future do you see for America? You have talked about giving up
sovereignty to the UN, and adopting socialism at home, what about the
constitution? Is world governance, and socialism what we fought the
Revolution, the Civil War, WWII, and the Cold War for? Is that what the
founders intended for us? Please explain why a nation that has always fought
for individual freedom, and free market capitalism, should rework it's self
in the image of Socialist France?
Obama has already nationalized the banks, and car companies. He wants to
control the over all financial industry. He wants to control energy and
industrial policy though Cap & Trade. He wants to control the health care
industry. He wants to saddle small business with new taxes. He has appointed
socialists, communists, eugenicists, one worlders, and all manor of
progressives to run his administration. He has appointed people to the FCC
who want to shut down talk radio, and monitor the internet. They have openly
praised Hugo Chavez's take over of the media, and talk about doing the same
thing here. The President of Argentina just pushed though the same media
control plan based on localism, that the diversity Czar at the FCC has
proposed. Our institutions are strong, and will hopefully hold, and the
courts should protect us from the worst excesses, but there can be no doubt
what Obama is trying to do. Was this the change we were hoping for? Is this
the one we have been waiting for?
