THOSE LIBERAL MEDIA BASTARDS...
... now they're changing Sarah Palin's eye color.
http://debamlen.com/2010/07/30/those-liberal-media-bastards/

According to The Christian Science Monitor, the publishers of Sarah Palin's new
book, "America By Heart" (working subtitle: "Because I Should Probably Know
Something About It Before I Get To The White House, Right?"), made an executive
decision to airbrush her eyes a dull shade of grey, even though her natural eye
color is brown, with just a hint of sparkle.

Brown, the color of the tea we drink when contemplating the evils of health
care reform and the attendant death panels.

Brown, the color of the Bridge To Nowhere, which we were for, until we realized
we were supposed to be totally against it.

Brown, the color of good old American soil, the soil our ancestors tilled even
when the dinosaurs roamed the Earth.

Your God, will they stop at nothing to keep her down? Compare, contrast, and
refudiate.

I was thinking.... if Sarah Palin became President, would she end up with the
nuclear launch codes written on her hands?

Ousted USDA Employee Sherrod Plans to Sue Blogger
http://abcnews.go.com/US/wireStory?id=11279038

Ousted Agriculture Department employee Shirley Sherrod said Thursday she will
sue a conservative blogger who posted an edited video of her making racially
tinged remarks last week.

The edited video posted by Andrew Breitbart led Agriculture Secretary Tom
Vilsack to ask Sherrod to resign, a decision he reconsidered after seeing the
entire video of her March speech to a local NAACP group. In the full speech,
Sherrod spoke of racial reconciliation and lessons she learned after initially
hesitating to help a white farmer save his home.

She said she doesn't want an apology from Breitbart for posting the video that
took her comments out of context, but told a crowd at the National Association
of Black Journalists annual convention that she would "definitely sue." ...

[President] Obama pinned much of the blame for the incident on a media culture
that he said seeks out conflict and doesn't always get the facts right. But he
added, "A lot of people overreacted, including people in my administration."

Breitbart really should have taken that, "if I become a slandering asshole"
insurance policy back when it was offered to him.... too late now.

To Deal With The Deficit, Let The Tax Cuts Expire
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/08/01/AR2010080103287.html

For the past few months, we have heard powerful, passionate arguments about the
need to cut America's massive budget deficit. Republican senators have claimed
that we are in danger of permanently crippling the economy. Conservative
economists and pundits warn of a Greece-like crisis in which America will be
able to borrow only at exorbitant interest rates. So when an opportunity
presents itself to cut those deficits by about a quarter -- more than $300
billion! -- permanently and relatively easily, you would think that these
people would be leading the way. Far from it.

The "Bush tax cuts," passed in 2001 and 2003, remain the single largest cause
of America's structural deficit -- that is, the deficit not caused by the
collapse in tax revenue when the economy goes into recession. The Bush
administration inherited budget surpluses from the Clinton administration. What
turned these into deficits, even before the recession? There were three
fundamental new costs: the tax cuts, the Medicare prescription-drug bill and
post-9/11 security spending (including the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan). Of
these the tax cuts were by far the largest, adding up to $2.3 trillion over 10
years. According to the Congressional Budget Office, nearly half the cost of
all legislation enacted from 2001 to 2007 can be attributed to the tax cuts. ...

A SUDDEN CHANGE OF HEART ON THE AMERICAN AUTO INDUSTRY....
http://www.washingtonmonthly.com/archives/individual/2010_08/024993.php

As we've been talking about over the last couple of days, President Obama's
decision to rescue American auto manufacturers looks awfully good with the
benefit of hindsight. Republicans were apoplectic at the time, but more than a
year later, we now know the GOP was wrong and the Obama White House was right.

The more amusing angle, however, is watching Republicans scramble to justify
their enormous mistake. At a moment of crisis, and with the GOP's credibility
on the line, Republicans made the wrong call -- but with a little revisionist
history, they're hoping you won't notice. ...

.... Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) proclaimed Obama's actions "truly breathtaking"
and said the government ownership roles at Chrysler and GM "should send a chill
through all Americans who believe in free enterprise."

Now that this same policy has been deemed an unqualified success, most
Republicans are biting their tongue, embarrassed about having been wrong once
again. But some GOP officials are nevertheless still talking -- and taking
partial credit for the policy they perceived as the end of American capitalism.

"The ideas [Republicans] laid out there were followed through," Corker told the
Washington Post. "I take some pleasure out of helping make that contribution."

Got that? Corker hated the policy last year -- it offended his notion of how
the government should operate on a fundamental level -- but now that it worked,
and the evidence is clear that Obama was right, he wants the public to think
the president succeeded thanks to the Republican "contributions" to the policy.

This is not only a reminder of just how shameless this crowd really is, it's a
reminder how fortunate America was that Republicans weren't calling the shots
when the pressure was on.
--------------------

All of the nation's ills can be traced back to the fact that the poor have too
much money while the rich don't have enough....
--------------------

I went to look up the word "hypocrisy" in the dictionary and found it gone. It
left a post-it note saying it was running away from home due to long hours and
low pay. The excess work dumped on the poor word by the Republicans has been
just too much. It says it may not come back. Perhaps "liar" could take its
place for a bit.
