Several hundred revolutionists, many of whom were fugitives from justice in another country banded together to overthrow the government. Their leader was a failed land promoter who had swindled huge amounts of money from many desperate people. One of his commanders was a drunken violent man who had abandoned his family in another country. Their platform supported slavery and was a key component of the revolt. The government offered them amnesty if they would free their slaves and swear allegiance to the existing government. One of the revolutionists, gathered a band of rebels, raided a port city and freed dozens of criminals who were imprisoned for tax evasion, smuggling and slave trafficking. The leader was arrested, tried, convicted and sentenced for treason. He was offered amnesty if he would swear allegiance to the government. He did, returned home, promptly renounced his sworn pledge and gather a small armed militia, armed with weapons stolen from the government. The government for several years continues with attempts to enforce the laws of the land, all while making diplomatic efforts to peacefully resolve the issues. Offering concessions and amnesty on a regular basis. While fighting a civil war with several leaders overthrown and replaced but the offers to settle with the revolutionists stayed basically the same. Much argument and maneuvering amongst the revolutionists was on going in attempts to be the leader and form some kind of management system. No shortage of men who would be king but a huge shortage of men who would be workers, plenty of chiefs but no indians. Every man who showed up with 30 or 40 men thought they should be in charge. Eventually the revolutionists organized enough to draw up a management agreement with a mission statement which enough of them signed on this day, March 2, 1836. Four days later, one of the most well known battles of the world occurred and the legacy of Texas was created. Sent via BlackBerry from T-Mobile
