Over the last number of years I (and others at PeaceWorks, the company I work
for) have developed several Webware-based applications, five of which are in
active use and see ongoing maintenance and improvements. Webware has been a
productive and useful platform in these projects.

However, we are not developing new projects using Webware, as it seems clear
that other frameworks such as Django, Turbogears and Plone are seeing much more
ongoing development and improvement. In order to be competitive we need to
reduce our costs by taking advantage of this ongoing development. It's also an
HR investment for our company to have our developers to learn and become
proficient in a framework, and so we want to choose a framework which will be
around in the long term.

However, we will continue to maintain the apps we have. It would be a
significant undertaking (and cost) to replace them, and I don't see that
happening any time soon. I have contributed several enhancements to the
Webware project (less so in recent years), and will contribute any useful
fixes/enhancements that I develop in maintaining our apps.

peace,
Jason
