Well, I mean, really, LDAP's just a protocol for finding and transferring
vaguely object-oriented datums, with some snazzy replication and
auto-referral stuff thrown in.

So you can pretty much do anything you want with it. Really, the place to
start is by looking at existing, standardized schemas, and how they meet
your needs. If they don't meet your needs, take a pass at writing your own
schema. If it's a major PITA, then it might be worthwhile to look
elsewhere.

You also have to ask yourself what the benefits are that you expect from
LDAP. Is it client freedom? Data exchange protocol interop? Buzzword
compliance?
