Sorry, spoke before really examining FFK documentation on this.

I now see the messages parameter of the ValidatorConverter class and the documentation 
at 
http://funformkit.sourceforge.net/FunFormKit/Docs/UserGuide.html#validators-and-converters

So I'd use it like :

v = Validator.NotEmpty({'empty':'The value was not provided'})
