They certainly are targeting the same problem.  My impression is that
PyDO has changed since I last looked at it, and there's at a version
that uses metaclasses and attributes more like SQLObject.  That doesn't
seem to be the version documented on the PyDO site, though.  But yes,
they are similar.  There's some other ones out there as well, but they
are mostly lower-level, like SQLDict or DbObj.
