I need a debian package for a few servers that I control where I am going to put some webware code into production.
All my work till now has been done with webware in /usr/local/Webware, but since the servers are debian servers I would much prefer to have it packaged as a deb. I will be using the webware 0.8 on woody servers. There was a thread on this earlier on, but no-one owned up to having actually made any debs. I will go ahead and make my own, but I was just wondering if anyone had done this already. I understand that to do it "properly" one would want to follow things such as the FHS and debian policy. However, if I do it myself, my goal will be to get a working deb as quickly as possible, not to make a package acceptable to debian. Therefore I'll probably just dump the tarball in /usr/lib/Webware, install the init script, and arrange to have some basic setup (setup.py, from memory?) run in the postinst script. Also put wkcgi in /usr/lib/cgi-bin. On the other hand, if anyone is preparing packages with a view to getting them included in debian, I'd be happy to help out with testing them.
