I know this is probably more an issue for the Code Sets List, but this
question was asked there in October and didn't get much in the way of a
reply.
I'm looking for someone in the know (Preferably AT CMS) who can tell me
whether CMS will continue allowing a 90 day grace period for
additions/cancellations of HIPAA Medical Code sets. Any documentation they
could point me to that allows this non-compliance under HIPAA or clarifies a
change toward compliance, would be greatly appreciated, as well.
Example: Currently, if a code is slated for deletion with a 1/1/03 date,
CMS will not reject a claim received with the cancelled code until 4/1/03.
When "H"-Day arrives, will CMS continue this practice?
