Dave is correct, except one correction. The implementation guide for the 824,
004050X166 has been approved for publication in October 2002 and should be
available at the WPC site in the next few weeks. Actual publication has been
delayed partly because WPC was very busy with publishing the HIPAA proposed
addenda.

The "824 and the 277 and the 999" and the 997 are X12 Transaction Sets
(a.k.a. Transactions). None of these are X12N Implementation Guides.
As of this writing, only the 999 is not yet an approved Transaction.
The other Transactions have been approved for years, and may have
multiple versions (e.g., 003070, 004010, 004021). [I haven't taken
the time this morning to look-up which Transactions occur differently
in which versions.]
Also to the best of my memory this morning, there are no
Implementation Guides, draft or published, based on the 997 or 999
Transactions. The draft Implementation Guide for the 824
Transaction is 004050X166. I know off the top of my head at least
five Implementation Guides based on the 277 Transaction, draft,
published, and one adopted for HIPAA.
So, even though many of us use the Transaction number as shorthand for
the Implementation Guide we're talking about, I think it wise to keep
the real nomenclature in mind.

"DRAFT" IGs ... and the only transaction that is in a final form is
the 997.
