I've appreciated the lively and scintillating discusions we've been sharing here. I especially liked the links back to FAQs, because we all know it's what the government thinks that counts. But I have had a very difficult time trying to look up FAQs on my own.
When I went to the "simp" site (http://aspe.hhs.gov/admnsimp/), the FAQ link takes me to some useful but pretty elementary discussions about ASCA.
I follow the Transactions & Code Sets link from that page, and all of its FAQ links seem to take you offsite -- DSMOs, SNIPs and OCRs, for example.
I swear I've looked at this page a hundred times, but it's only now, frustrated that members of this list seemed to have the key to FAQ finding that I somehow missed, that I discovered it. I did a search of the whole site, and found a link. In the search summary, it said, "We have set up a button -- 'Answers to Your Questions' -- on the ADMNSIMP website so that FAQs coming into HIPAA-QUESTION can be accessed separately from the FAQs published earlier." I looked back at the TCS page, and there it was! (http://aspe.hhs.gov/search/admnsimp/qdate01.htm).
Only thing is, the last FAQ it links to is dated 11/02/2001. Can it be that no one has bothered to ask HHS a question in the last fourteen months? If so, that explains a lot of our confusion.
If not, can someone point me at the obviously well-hidden button that links me to more recent FAQ responses?
