Q re: recommended ways in processing 278 request
with multiple service loops and/or service provider loops. When a payer receives a 278 request that contains multiple
service and/or service provider loops, the IG recommends using the trace
numbers in the TRN segment so that the UMO can respond at different times to each
of the service requests as the medical decisions are made. Since the TRN segment is situational, the
UMO can't rely on the fact that the requester will always send associated
trace numbers. It doesn't
look like the UMO can effectively assign the trace numbers since the receiver
can't be required to make distinctions based on the TRNs
supplied by others. So, if the UMO wants to only respond to one of them, can the
response just include the service/service provider loops being responded
to? Or does the response have to
include all the other services/service providers other than the one being sent? Thanks! Janie The WEDI SNIP listserv to which you are subscribed is not moderated.
