Billie Jo,   The regs say Yes, some payors (such as IL Medicare) say No.  Likewise for ST/SE batches within each GS/GE.  The regs don't say anything about how Interchanges are to be packed within phyzical files.   It would be nice to be able to batch 837 Groups (004010X098A1) with 276 Groups (004010X093A1) to the same Receiver in the same Interchange.  I don't anticipate trouble receiving 835s mixed with 277s and 997s in the same Interchange.  Multiple ST/SE batches in a single group should be possible, but since each IG specifies only one transaction type (or one in each direction), the need to do so is not so strong.   In the long run, I believe that such batching ability is mandated.  In the short run, you may have to go with the flow, and do one Group per Interchange.   The opinions expressed here are my own and not necessarily the opinion of LCMH.   Douglas M.
