Good evening. Just curious if anyone can help shed some light on the following questions related to payer identification:
1)Is a Medigap identification number also considered a Payer ID?
2)Where are Medigap numbers reported in the 837P transaction? If there is a Medigap number and another Payer ID which number should the submitter report?
3) Are EMC codes considered payer id's?
3)Is there a master list of payer id's currently in use or does the submitter consider each clearinghouse EMC code a payer id?
Any help with this matter would be greatly appreciated.
