Sorry, commit 3744787ec01660f903228423f2281ef056f15784 does in fact fix the
problem.
I built and installed WeeChat from a second shell and then tested it back the
first shell. For some reason an older version was still being used. Once I
ensured that the right version of WeeChat was being used, the bug no longer
occurs.
