I don't think my reply went through. I ended up deleting this message. after looking deeper my database all of my wind gusts are whole numbers, and the loop is showing whole numbers for wind speed.
I'm guessing the reason the database is showing fractional numbers for wind speed is because it's taking the archive interval into account. so my assumption is if wind speed is always a whole number and wind gust is the maximum wind speed for that archive interval then my wind gust will always be a whole number. That's why I deleted this message. I may have answered my own question without realizing.
