Could you try again, making one small change? In setup.py, change this
proc = subprocess.Popen(args,
env={'PYTHONPATH': install_lib},
stdin=sys.stdin,
stdout=sys.stdout,
stderr=sys.stderr)
to this
os.environ['PYTHONPATH'] = install_lib
proc = subprocess.Popen(args,
# env={'PYTHONPATH': install_lib},
stdin=sys.stdin,
stdout=sys.stdout,
stderr=sys.stderr)
In summary, you are adding one line, and commenting out one line.
Then give it another try.
If you are not comfortable doing this, we'll figure out another solution.
