Not to defend google, but: They seem to expect SPF and DKIM, and I sort both of those into "if you aren't doing that your mail server is not set up right" these days. If you are coming from an IP address that also hosts spammers, your house is not in order and you need to find a better hosting service. I find that my mail does not get filtered as spam by google.
