I 'can' say that my dist-upgrade 'to' 7.x from a previous version on the 
Dockstar was a mess and I needed to do a complete reinstall, but that was 3 
years ago.   Always easier to just have another disk to throw at that kind 
of thing, preferably a spinning one.
