​I could. But, that bucks the whole reason I wrote weewx in the first
place. I was a hardcore wview user, but also interested in experimenting
with new devices and algorithms. I found wview to be very brittle and very
difficult to ​modify. Everything required a change to the code base. So, I
wrote weewx.

Supporting the Dekay library is a fine example of the weewx approach. If
this suggestion works, it accommodates an inexpensive and incomplete
emulator of the Vantage series, while leveraging, and not modifying, the
existing code base.
