I just wanted to follow up with our final solution: This turned out to be a 
data-logger issue as setting the 'record_generation' to 'software' 
temporarily fixed the issue. Ultimately we ended up finding a newer console 
that was compatible with the new dataloggers (firmware was non-upgradable). 
After getting a new console and datalogger the issue was repaired.

My method for swapping consoles was to simply let both consoles run for a 
few days and then swap the old one with the new one. This minimized any 
missing data for us.
