Tom,

While I'm the one who started this thread, let me say that WeeWx works 
beautifully on my El Cap setup; this particular logging issue has been 
confined to my MySQL issue; in general the log with debug=1 works fine. 
That said, i have not ventured into customization very far so this may not 
be useful feedback.
