Hi, You are right, they are #175 related. The issue of how None is used/handled touches a lot of weeWX; drivers, services such as StdWXCalculate (responsible for derived obs), the accumulator machinery (responsible for generating archive records from loop packets), the tag/report machinery etc, the latter is probably more fairly well on the mark but the others have issues. You have stumbled on some StdWXCalculate and accumulator issues.
The decision was taken to release 3.7.0 with a modified vantage driver that did not emit all of the None fields that it previously did. This was done partly because the task to rework all of the above (drivers, StdWXCalculate and the accumulators (and who knows what else)) is huge and Tom wanted 3.7..0 out, partly because the Vantage driver is well understood/stable and it was the testbed and partly (I think) to see what issues it might throw up. I think you will find #175 will get some attention in the not too distant future. Fortunately, I guess, None and 0 are not poles apart when it comes to rain and rainRate (None and 999 might be a different matter).
