SOLVED.  I did not notice that the png images where not being regenerated. 
 Stuck at 3 pm this afternoon.  I was playing around with the anti_alias 
setting in skin.conf.  I tried changing from 1 to 2 and didn't like it so I 
set it to 0 to see if that was different.  That apparently killed the 
Cheetah report generation of png completely and I didn't notice the time 
stamp had stopped.  Reset it to 1 and all png are current and in knots now.
