Perhaps a not so elegant solution but I have released v0.3.1 this morning
that now includes a config option ignore_lost_contact that will ignore the
sensor lost contact check. You can find v0.3.1 here

edit weewx.conf, locate the [RealtimeGaugeData] stanza, add the config
option and set it to true:
# Options for extension 'Rtgd'
[RealtimeGaugeData]
...
ignore_lost_contact = True
...
The option defaults to False. Whilst I don't have VVP to check against, my
tests indicate this should work. A warning for anyone else using this
option it will disable lost sensor checks so if you enable the config
option and you lose your sensors the SteelSeries gauges will continue to
show that the sensors are in contact (ie the LED will remain green).
