At risk of being over pedantic it is also possible that the bucket size is 
actually .01 inch and the .3 mm 'quoted' in the device's manual is in 
itself a metric approximation to one decimal place.  Have you actually 
checked/verified the size of the bucket - not that I can work out how to do 
that myself??  It seems to me that most buckets appear to natively measure 
in imperial units after googling for a while.
