I meant exactly what I said. The station registry uploader will attempt to get station_url from [StationRegistry] in the first instance. If station_url does indeed exist under [StationRegistry] then that is what is uploaded to the station registry. In this case the station_url setting under [Station] is irrelevant.
If there is no station_url setting under [StationRegistry] then the uploader will fallback to the station_url setting under [Station] and that is what will be uploaded to the station registry. You can delete whatever you want as long as at least one exists (if neither exist then the station registry uploader will not upload). Of course if you delete station_url under [Station] then anywhere else in weeWX/your reports etc that use station_url to get/process/display your station URL will likely fail. In short, station_url under [StationRegistry] is only used by the the station registry uploader; station_url under [Station] may be used by the station registry uploader and it may be used elsewhere. For these reasons if it were me I would drop the station_url from [StationRegistry] and retain it under [Station]. This is what has been done in the current (since 2.6.0) weewx.conf.
