Yes, I see what you mean about vec_dir in the accumulators. It's there because the average wind direction of [359, 0, 1] is 0, not 180.
It is possible to change the behavior of the accumulators so they emit the last value (rather than the average), but it would take me some time to think about how to do it. Frankly, you're better off fixing your instrument.
