FWIW - I'm not appreciating the tone.

I'm not suggesting anything re: you at all

I'm just trying to ask a purely technical question of:
'*what does DNS (on/off/bind9/dnsmasq/whatever) have to do with hostapd*' ?

A little research on at least one site https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Hostapd 
does not even mention DNS of any flavor.
So I wanted to ask.
