No imputations of personal cussedness were implied, more of a suggestion that it would be nice to see a default of international standards first. That is all. Your own expertise and background are well known and respected by anyone who's bothered to inform themselves. Apologies if you thought otherwise. My suggestion of forking was an expression of annoyance with the whole business of the US's eccentricity, not on the practical, functional significance, and I tried to acknowledge and qualify.
