History seems to prove that if you can go to $300 for a middling station, 
going to $400 for a Davis is worth the extra money if you can do that.is 
'excellent'.

Just picking ScientificSales as a known-good vendor, you can pick up a Vue 
and Davis datalogger for about $375 currently:

You can try to save a few bucks with a 3rd party datalogger like 
Belfryboy's but personally I'd just go all-in on Davis.  Their gear just 
plain works and their customer support is 'excellent'.
