It's practical to restore from WU but that comes with its own set of issues 
- so may not advance you to where you want to be!!  In any case the WU data 
will also contain the bad data won't it??

1. stop weewx
2. Take a copy of your sdb as a backup
3. Try the removals again - and keep a note of commands that you issue and 
responses you get back - so you can tell us what you did.
4. Check the data has indeed gone
5. drop daily and rebuild daily
6. remove *.png and *.html
7. run wee_reports or start weewx
