The last findings are the following:

on WLAN I get:

pi@raspberrypi:/ $ mysql -h 192.168.0.44 -u weewx -p
Enter password:
ERROR 2013 (HY000): Lost connection to MySQL server at 'reading
authorization packet', system error: 2 "No such file or directory"
After entering the pasword, it takes a couple of seconds, until I get the
error message.

And on LAN I get:

pi@raspberrypi:~ $ sudo mysql -h 192.168.0.44 -u weewx -p
Enter password:

Currently I have no idea, why mySQL remote access works via LAN but not via
WLAN. The WLAN connection goes through a Devolo Wifi --> PowerLine to the
same router as the wired connection.

I have to think about this. Anyhow, thanks for your inputs!
